Hledan Junction

A browser journey through Yangon, in memory of map creator Madric A.

Yangon, remembered in real time

Project interface preview

THE STORY

The context.

Hledan is personal. The original 3D map was made by my friend Madric A. It was the last map he gave me before he passed away from cancer. My work carries that gift into a real-time browser experience: a place to walk, change the light, watch the weather, and spend a little longer with a familiar part of Yangon.

MY CONTRIBUTION

My role.

Web rendering and interaction: adapting the map for the browser, lighting, weather, navigation, and performance work for phones and laptops.

INSIDE THE BUILD

The details that make it work.

  • Explore the district from an orbit view, in first person, or through playable characters.
  • Lighting and weather systems change the atmosphere across the junction.
  • A baked navigation and collision representation keeps movement practical in a lightweight browser scene.
  • Device-sensitive rendering and touch controls support mobile as well as laptop exploration.
